swedish massage
The most prevalent and basic massage modality, Swedish massage is designed
to energize the body and promote wellness and immunity by stimulating
circulation. The soft tissues of the body are manually manipulated using
various strokes that encourage blood and lymph to flow toward the heart.
Swedish massage is a good choice for those who are looking to relax and let
go of muscular tension resulting from stress. The many benefits of Swedish
massage may include, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, improved
circulation and immunity, overall relaxation, emotional release, toxin
removal and reduced swelling from injury.
deep tissue
This form of bodywork targets the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. Deep
work requires more advanced training and exceptional knowledge of anatomy
and physiology. Muscular origins and insertions are stimulated to release
chronic and acute tension, injury and inflammation. Deep Tissue work is
very effective in injury rehabilitation, relieving inflammation related
pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis, breaking down scar tissue and
retraining the body to generate new healthy tissue.
reiki
Rooted in ancient Japanese culture, Reiki is a form of energetic healing
that combines the universal life force or energy with that of the
individual to promote healing. The treatment involves placing warm hands
lightly on the body in a sequence of positions to balance charkas (energy
centers) and clear energetic blockages. The client usually experiences
warmth, tingling and a somewhat dreamy state of consciousness. The
treatment cleans and dissolves toxic substances and negative energy on the
physical, emotional and mental levels. Reiki is an excellent means of
addressing emotional issues associated with trauma, cancer, or simply for
wellness and prevention.
thai massage
Thai massage has been practiced in the far east for approximately 2,500
years. The style is quite different from western modalities. After
receiving this work, many people feel as if they have just completed a yoga
class. The treatment is done on the floor and the client is fully clothed.
Without using oil, the soft tissues are manually manipulated using
various techniques, such as stretching and compression.
lymphatic drainage
With this technique the therapist manually encourages lymphatic flow toward
the lymph nodes to promote and expedite cleansing and toxin removal. Once
identifying the rhythm, direction and quality of flow, the therapist can
encourage rapid drainage to promote wellness, immunity and toxin
elimination from the body. This is an excellent treatment for those who
are recovering from a cold and want to speed up the recovery process.
pregnancy massage
Although pregnancy can be a vulnerable time to receive bodywork, there are
various types of massage and energy work that are safe and effective
throughout pregnancy. During each trimester, a women's body goes through
many changes specific to each stage of fetal development and massage can
help the mind and body adapt and adjust with ease. Prenatally, specific
techniques can reduce discomfort, anatomically stresses and enhance the
physiological and emotional well-being of the mother and fetus. Prenatal
massage often eases the experience of labor, reducing labor pains,
alieviating discordant emotions, and enhancing breathing methods.
Postpartum massage encourages the body to return to its natural state,
structurally, emotionally and physiologically.
